Microsoft have released a video on their new OS codenamed Windows 8, which is seemingly designed for tablets, laptops and desktops. It has taken quite a few elements from Windows Phone 7 such as the tile based home screen. Lots of touch screen controls/gestures ensure it will work well on touch enabled devices. It’s slated for a 2012 release, which may happen as it looks more like Windows 6.2 (Windows 7 is confusingly 6.1, and Vista is 6.0) rather than another complete rewrite.
